   Digging the Deuces

The other popular wild-card video poker game is Deuces Wild. Because it has four wild cards, it complicates the strategy that is necessary to succeed at the machines.
Just as in other varieties of video poker, it’s important to note the pay table on Deuces Wild. But it’s not as easy as with Jacks-or-better. Club executives have discovered several different ways to alter the pay tables that will alter the payback percentages.
The object of Deuces Wild, obviously, is to obtain the wild cards to get those valuable hands. But what does it mean when you start off the hand with Deuces?
Even in the highest paying version of Deuces Wild—at 100.6 percent—you will receive No Deuce hands 66 percent of the time, which means that 80 percent of your hands will be losers. Another 14 percent will be the minimum three-of-a-kind winner, which is actually just a push. So if you don’t get a Deuce before the draw, you will actually win only six percent of the time.
The small variations in the pay table are the reason for the variation in payback percentage for expert play.
Some basic rules are not to play any machine that does not pay five-for-one for four-of-a-kind. And most important of all, even if you’ve got a shot at a natural royal, do not discard any Deuce!
I Stand with any ,wtural winning hand, except for a natural straight flush starling with Nine. Discard the Nine and go for the royal.

Draw Poker at Online Poker Games

Draw Poker Game

Regardless of the name of the game, poker can be played in only two different ways. Either open (with cards exposed) or closed (with all cards hidden from the rest of the table). Open Poker is usually called Stud Poker.

Closed Poker is usually called Draw Poker. Unlike Stud Poker only five cards are used, and all five cards are dealt to the player immediately. Within Draw Poker there are also variations. The players bet or fold according to the variation of the Poker Game that they are playing. Some variations allow for the player to pass (not bet at all), without penalty. Other variations require that every player must bet or fold. Even other variations (for instance, Jacks Or Better) require that the players have a particular type of card in their hand, before the game can even proceed to the betting stage poker - machines and games. This does not mean that every player must have that hand; only one player must have a particular hand, and say so, in order to start the betting.

Playing Strategy

Regardless of the game of Draw Poker being played, every player who elects to go forward past the point of the original five cards is entitled to discard from one to four cards (in some games all five may be discarded) from his original hand and he is entitled to draw the same number of “new” cards from the remaining deck. Hence the name, Draw Poker. After every player has been given the opportunity to draw new cards, betting starts on the new hands. As in the other jackpots game described, the player must bet, raise, or fold his cards. When betting is complete, each player remaining in the game has the opportunity to pay to see the player who is claiming the pot. Pay to see is the final bet. Those who elect to see have the right to look at the final hand. If the player declaring himself the winner has sufficient strength to frighten out all the players, and no one is left to see his cards, he does not have to show his hand. This is the ultimate bluff, to win and not expose your cards!

Cockabolly hand

Every game being played anywhere in the world has variations on the above rules. In every casino, club, or private home there are what are known as house rules. These take precedence over all the established rules of the game. But, house rules in one place are not necessarily the same in another place. Be sure to check if there are any variations on the game that you are preparing to enter. It’s a lot safer to ask your questions in advance, than to be sitting with a royal flush and discover that in this house, an ace, three, nine, jack and joker are known as a “Cockabolly hand” and will win over anything.

On the opposite side of the coin are the private card clubs. They provide only the facilities for the players, not the dealers poker - video poker percentages. Every player will have the opportunity to deal for himself in turn. For this privilege, private clubs usually charge a set amount to each player for every half hour, or hour that they are on the table. House games have their own rules about fees. Some games charge the entire pot for the refreshments and cards used, by taking a percentage. Others take the percentage, too, but will divide it among all the players at the end of the evening, in an effort to provide every player with a return, however small, at the end of a session of cards.

Variations

There are variations in online poker as played under house rules that provide for wild cards. A wild card is one that may be used by any player in place of any card in the deck. Most often deuces (all 2’s) are called wild cards. Of course, a joker, or even two jokers may be added to the deck and used as wild cards. You might even hear the expression “one-eyed jacks wild.” In this instance, both the jack of hearts and the jack of spades (those shown in profile, with only one eye exposed) are considered as wild cards. There are even games that say, “three and eights are wild after a queen appears.” Wild cards play a very important role in changing the possibilities of drawing any particular hand in Poker.
