Online Poker with Video Poker Percentages
Originally, video-poker games were limited to the standard 5-Card Draw with several paytables. However, with manufacturers looking for sales and casinos looking for an edge on their competition, additional varieties of machines were soon to follow. That brought 5-Card Stud, 7-Card Stud, Red Dog, and various other games, each of which had limited popularity. Joker Wild and Deuces Wild machines were the next to be introduced and they have remained popular today.
The latest is a Deuces-Joker Wild with the highest jackpot for five wild cards. These too, are getting lots of play.
As this competition for video Poker players becomes more frenzied, casinos offer extra bonuses and special variations — anything to capture your interest or make you think you’re getting a better return for your money poker - machines and games. Some of the most popular extra bonus types are:
Bonus for 4-of-a-kind:
(e.g. 4 aces — highest bonus;
Four 2’s, 3’s or 4’s — next highest bonus; Four S’s through kings — lowest bonus; or other combinations purely at the casino’s whim.)
Bonus for a Royal Flush of a Specific Suit:
Some of these can be quite large. (e.g. $2,500 for Hearts on a quarter machine or $5,000 for Spades on a half-dollar machine)
Bonus for an Ordered Royal Flush:
(usually A K Q J 10 but can be in reverse only(IOJQKA)or either direction— depends upon the casinos’ posted rules)
Bonus for an Ordered Royal Flush In a specific suit:
(Again, the casino decides which of the four suits and what order is the designated bonus winner.)
Bonus for your Favorite 4-of-a-Kind:
(e.g. If 3 is your lucky number or you have a favorite face card — you program the machine toy on that card. If it hits all four, you win the bonus.)
These bonus hands are just a way of confusing the basic paytables online poker. They are “flagged” in different ways to attract the player, usually highlighted in a different color on the award glass and/or on the “logo” glass below the buttons. The amount of the bonus varies from casino to casino, according to the whim or “generosity” of the particular house.
Some casinos have Bonus Deuces Wild with double the jackpot ($500) for the four wild cards as the second best payout on a quarter machine .The win for a royal flush with wild cards and for a straight flush are considerably reduced.
Other places offer a bonus of only $100 for four deuces. In the long run, you’ll pay for the bonus. On these bonus machines the casino’s hold percentage is usually assured by reducing the payout for smaller wins on other hands. For example,they may eliminate coins paid for Jacks-or-Better and/or two pair poker - progressive professional teams.
The casino hopes that if a player scores on an extra bonus type (or any other type for that matter), he’s likely to get “hooked” on that type and play it exclusively for several sessions trying to repeat his good fortune. Additionally, all of these variations aflow the casino to use machines which have lower payback percentages without upsetting the player, because the bonuses make the percentages harder to determine. One thing has not changed however.
