Poker Progressive Calculation on online poker
Progressive Calculation
Progressive machines are those that have a bonus payout for certain hands that increases as the machine is played.typically,a group of machines are connected to a sign that displays the dollar amount you would receive for hitting a royal flush with the maximum coins played. You can watch the metered display adding each penny or fraction thereof to the jackpot as the coins are inserted. To determine the payback percentage of a progressive machine you take the base percentage of the machine and add the amount of the progressive increment poker - poker video rules.
For Example:
Standard Quarter Draw poker Machines with 5-8 Paytable
Normal payback percentage = 95.3
Progressive Reset Value 4000 coins = $1000
Increment Percentage 0.5% of Coin-In (Increment of 5 coins for every 1000 played — $1.25 for every $250 played)
Expected Payback Percentage = 95.3 + 0.5 =95.8
As you can see, most progressive jackpots increase at the rate of one-half of one percent of all coins played, (e.g. .005 or 5 cents for every $10.00 played.)
Collecting The “Drop”
The third is The Conservative Strategy. It is designed for the short-term player, also, who is looking for entertainment only and wants to play as long as possible on a limited budget. It too, should return a little less than the Optimum over the long haul, but can help you in short- term-play by increasing your “staying power” at the machines. All strategists offer tables to memorize or carry along to consult while playing. On the pages that fallow, we’ve included a table for each of the three described above. Feel free to copy and take them along for, reference while you play online poker.
Do’s and Don’ts
On the larger progressives, the casino actually takes the progressive increment out of the machine’s drop and puts the money into a special interest-bearing account from which they pay the jackpot. (The machine’s “drop” is the actual coins that fall into the bucket inside the stand below the machine.)
The drop is collected periodically, usually daily, and taken to the counting room where the coins are counted and re-rolled to be resold to the players. If you should happen to play during the “wee” hours of the morning you’ll see the carts loaded with buckets of money collected. You will be asked to step aside from your machine while the buckets are exchanged. After the exchange, you can actually hear some of the coins you play dropping into the empty bucket below. As the bucket fills, the sound becomes muffled and inaudible in the noisy casino.
Counting Room
In the counting room, the drop is compared to the computer printout of the meter readings on the machine. The printout usually shows the coin- in/coin-out totals (i.e. coins played and coins paid out by the machine.) Royal flushes and other hand-pay amounts are also registered.
When a machine’s payout hopper is empty, it is refilled by a casino attendant and recorded on a form. Refills are usually witnessed by two or more employees and entered into the accounting records poker - a famous personality.
These records are important to determine which machines are holding to their programmed percentage and making money for the casino. You can bet that if they don’t, they will be examined carefully to find out why not and either repaired or yanked from the floor and replaced with new “reliables.”
For instance, the casinos use the following formulas to determine the machine’s performance:
WIN — Drop - (Fills + Hand-Paid Jackpots)
WIN Coins In x Theoretical Hold Percentage
WIN/COIN IN ACTUAL HOLD PERCENTAGE
For those machines that do not start the progressive at the normal non-progressive payout for the royal flush (4,000 coins), you will have to calculate what the additional progressive amount represents and add it to the calculation. For example, a jackpot starts at $10,000 and progresses at two-tenth of one percent. Assuming it is expected to hit around $15,000, the .002 increment factor represents $5,000 of the progressive and the $10,000 represents another four-tenths of one percent. Therefore, the total payback of the machine would be the original payback percentage plus six- tenths of one percent (.006).
